Importing email from Yahoo
SlickAlpha mailspaces support importing email from Yahoo mail using IMAP protocol. Yahoo mail requires app passwords to be used for IMAP login.
1. Setup app passwords for your Yahoo account
- Follow instructions in this Yahoo documentation to generate your app password.
- This app password should be used to validate and import email, instead of your Yahoo account password.
2. Validate source login using IMAP analyzer
- Visit our free IMAP analyzer tool and validate your Yahoo credentials.
- If your credentials are validated successfully, Mailbox login test should be marked as pass. You can now use these credentials to import email to SlickAlpha mailbox.
3. Starting an import job
A. For administrators
As an administrator/owner of a mailspace, you can import email for any mailbox in your mailspace. To start an email import,
- Open My Mailspaces page, and click Manage for your mailspace.
- Scroll down to find Transfers section, and click Import Email button.
- Select the target mailbox from the dropdown menu, and enter your source email and password validated in step 2.
- Click Import Email to start the import process.
B. For assigned members
As an assigned member, you can import email if imports are enabled for your mailbox. To start an email import,
- Open My Mailboxes page, and click Manage for your mailbox.
- Scroll down to find Transfers section, and click Import Email button.
- Enter your source email and password validated in step 2.
- Click Import Email to start the import process.
During import process, your mailbox will be locked from access. After starting an email import, you can optionally cancel it within 5 minutes from creating the job. If you have enabled the Auto Requeue option, the process will enter Active state after each successful completion. During Active state, you can access your mailbox, or optionally cancel the import job.
